Roofing and Ventilation

Many homes we perform assessments on have roofs that are under-ventilated or poorly maintained. A watertight and properly ventilated roof is imperative when insulating an attic space. When you insulate your home, it changes the building dynamics. Attic insulation reduces the amount of heat loss from the home to the attic space, which in turn makes the bottom side of the roof colder. If a roof is not properly ventilated and warm moist air from the home migrates to the attic, it increases the potential for condensation, which leads to long term building durability problems.

At BES, we take a properly ventilated roof system very seriously. If you have questions or concerns about the ventilation in your home, we are happy to take a look.
