Energy Efficiency

Keeping drafts out and comfort in makes all the difference.

AIR SEALING

Air sealing involves closing up the cracks and holes between the inside and the outside of the home, which eliminates the drafts that so often are the source of a homeowner’s discomfort. It’s a crucial step in any project where insulation is involved, and because of this, we usually target areas like a home’s attic, flooring, and basement or crawl space. Air sealing helps ensure that the air you want in your home—cool air in the summer and warm air in the winter—stays in your home.

INSULATION

Insulation offers one of the clearest paths to a more comfortable and quiet home.  Despite this, far too many homes are under-insulated and have never enjoyed the benefits that come from an insulation upgrade.  We work with a variety of insulation types, so we’re able to apply the right upgrade to meet a home’s specific comfort needs.  We also are able to tackle each of the different insulation zones in a home, doing everything from more affordable (but high energy saving) attic projects, to more involved (but high comfort producing) wall solutions.  A sealed, insulated home can feel like a refuge in any season.

ADDITIONAL ENERGY AND COMFORT UPGRADES

We often help clients get even more out of their insulation project by tackling other problem areas of the home, areas that are frequently connected to energy and comfort loss.  Replacing older single pane windows with newer multi-pane ones, for example, helps preserve the comfort gains that come with upgraded insulation.  Additionally, swapping out original doors with newer ones can cut back on energy loss that often happens at a home’s entry points.
